System freezes and halts. Processes cannot be stopped.

You are using Windows 7/ Vista, and your computer halts and freezes when running programs (e.g antivirus/anti-malware) or after you have pressed the Ctrl+Alt+Del and when tried to remove/ terminate a process ... everything halts.

1. Firstly, make sure its not a memory (hardware) problem by running the Windows 7 built in memory check option. (Press F8/F9 on boot). If you are not using Win7, try a third party memory checking utility.

2. Defrag and checkdisk your current hard drive or any other hard drive you are using.
- Installed inside the PC (Detouch any external usb ones).

3. If a program denys to uninstall (and halts your system), a good advice is to boot in safe mode (no network) and try to uninstall it from that mode.
- For effectiveness, right click on the "uninstaller" and choose "Run as an Administrator".

4. After you have removed any unecessary programs that were crashing, its time to "touch" the (running) services.

5. Restart any recent service you stopped, or restart them ALL. If the system needs them will keep them running.

6. As a finish, its a good time to have an antivirus check with updated definitions and good anti-malware protection.

After you restart your PC, everything will be running smoothly as before.

Virus [Win32.Virtob.Gen.12] How to remove it?

Suggestions (tools) which are tested and will help you get rid of this self multiplying... highly infectious virus.

- BitDefender Antivirus 2009 (tested)
- SUPERAntiSpyware Free (updated)
- Unhack me (UnHackMe First BootWatch AntiRootkit)
- Spybot - Search & Destroy

The virus can be spread to ALL system (system32) *exe* files... so you must be very careful what you are going to delete.
BitDefender does a great job while it cleans the files and disinfects instead of deleting them.

I got the virus when i downloaded a program via bittrrent way... It was hidden inside and in seconds infected program files, exe, dll's and windows system 32 directory.

Good luck!
